1.3 Samurai Aisin carb rebuild

Post by Rocket » Wed Nov 20, 2019 3:33 pm

Hi!

Are there any good guides available to rebuild a 1990 Aisin Carb, or any recommendations for a company to service them?

Bin it and replace it.

Most go SU HIF44 but that requires a modified manifold.

There are some bolt on toyota, daihatsu and hyundai replacements that are much more reliable.

You can get bolt-on webbers can't you?

I remember seeing some kits somewhere for about £300, alternatively you can get an intake manifold modified to fit an HIF44 for £100 or so, (I think Richard Wattam charged me £100-£120, something like that) then a HIF is probably another £70 off ebay (that's what mine cost, it was brand new old stock at the time).

Yeah, webber do a bolt on carb too. Thats one of the more costly options.

Seem like a good carb. I ran one for a bit on one of the SJs.

The toyota 3k carb is a very good and simple swap as well, pretty much bolt on and performs well. You can get new chinese ones for £50 off ebay or genuine Aisin ones for more.
