E10 Fuel in Suzuki Samurai SJ413

Post by SMITHEREEN » Wed Sep 01, 2021 10:56 am

I don't know if this is any help to any Sammy owners but as an Suzuki Samurai SJ413 owner the news about E10 fuel made me think, and despite a quick search couldn't find out from the Gov.uk site if my car was compatible as it said "consult the owners vehicle manual". Luckily I have an original manual so I thought I'd snap shot the page and post it hope it helps:

We have a 2005 G Vitara and even though our owners manual says that E10 is ok for it - I chickened out of using it the other day and paid extra for the super duper E5 LOL.
I will wait for some real world UK feedback before using E10,apparently E10 is not as stable as E5 in storage - because our car use is quite sporadic (affected by wind and weather) I decided that the slight extra cost of super duper E5 was ok.

I have been still mostly using Tesco 99 E5 although I did do one fillup with E10 because that filling station did not have any 'super' petrol LOL.
I think I will carry on using E5 as the norm (when available) because E10 is going to be a bit harsher on Fuel systems (rubber seals and hoses) than E5.
Ethanol is also quite Hygroscopic so I would not want it lying around in the tank during the winter when our use of our cars is fairly sporadic (weather related).
