From speaking to the locals people seem to just swap parts about for the VRT. Only every 2 years so not too much hassle.

But apart from that they can be a bit slacky. Like my last car I VRTd passed with some lights out and they didn't even check things like the seat belts.
I like the fact you missed out that 4 stations refused to test it as it was at all

Go on give the reasons, they are funny!

Mostly was just refused due to 2016 modification rules. and two guys being idiots

1st. Wouldn't test because of bumper, and tyres sticking out from under the arches
2nd. Wouldn't test because he broke a land rover on his brake rollers and now won't test 4x4s
3rd. Refused to test before he even saw it (it was parked around the corner) because he "fucking hates samurais"
4th. Wouldn't test because of bumper

You have to see an engineer who looks at the bumper and then issues a certificate.
Problem is the car is garaged/SORN and has no number plates (they are government issued and get taken away on SORN)
So to go anywhere with no number plates I need a permit from Transport Malta (like DVLA) which lasts 4 hours.
Shouldn't be a problem when i get the VRT and plates sorted out, then off to an engineer for a certificate so it won't be a problem next time!
Either that or I might not bother and just stick a stock bumper on at VRT time...

Doh! More strict than the Spainish "MOT's" Don't they literally look at it, check the lights and brakes and that is it?

Not strictly SJ, but pretty much the same, I managed to replace my rear bearings, axle seals, brake pipes and brake shoes over the last few days.

Now just to get them bled up and adjusted!

I actually got a VRT done now, and the guy didn't look at much.
Failed on exhaust volume, emissions weren't tested as I developed a car air leak on the way.
Headlight aim cos I didnt bother adjusting it first
1 Steering ball joint
Number plate lights as the wire fell off on the way!

Not too bad, only took 10 minutes. They didnt check for rust, or indicators, or seat belts or any minor things like that

I was asking the guy there why they are so strict now and apparently (courier told me this as well) they now have live streaming cameras that Transport Malta (DVLA) can watch at any time.
Which is why they are strict on anything that looks visually out of place.

This is the only thing I've done to my SJ recently. Got hold of a Suzuki inclometer for the dash, but missed not having the clock. So I removed one of the vents so I could have both :D .

More to the point......You are still alive   where have you been boyo?

I've done a few bits too mine recently...mostly got punctures and swapped wheels

Also stripped and cleaned the starter motor as it was full of mud, found a few leaks and changed the drag link.
