The 88 SJ has gone...

Post by 88SJ » Sat Jan 02, 2016 6:13 pm

As I write this my Suzuki is on a trailer being taken south by it's new owner...sadness

I have loved owning this current SJ and it's been my favourite of all the Suzukis (SJs, Samurais, Vitaras) I have owned...maybe even better than owning the SJ413QJX I bought new back in 1987 - based on the fact that I probably looked after the new SJ where as I don't worry so much about a 28yr old one

Good news is it has gone to an enthusiast....only flipping Mike Harris!! Mike has bought it for his own personal use and has promised to look after it and give me first refusal when / if he sells

Mike...good to meet you. Hope the SJ is as good as you think (it was going dark when Mike viewed) and enjoy it

Thanks Scottie and...well loads of people - this really is an excellent site

I have to be honest and admit I needed a tow vehicle which is why the SJ has been sold. I have been using a Cayenne for the last couple of years but recently did what you guys will think is a terrible thing!! You guessed it - Land Rover!! I have bought a 1992 90 County station wagon that has galvanised chassis and recent brand new 300TDi engine. I do appreciate what you all think - my excuse is that I do live in Solihull...

Take it easy guys

Anton

I doubt it's the last :suzuki: you'll ever own. :P

Needs must, we get that, but we'll probably still take the mick out of you for owning a lawn rover.

I can understand the need for a bigger car but why not another zook? A fucking Lawn Mower? What were you thinking man??

On a lighter note lets hope you buy her back one day!

Dude...had both short wheel base and long wheel base vitaras - didn't like any of them and wouldn't trust any of them to tow a car trailer even when empty. Have towed caravans and car trailers with Zooks over the years - even towed a caravan to west coast of Wales with my first SJ!! I really need a proper tow vehicle...I'll be back though

And they're super easy to work on, because you don't have to take them apart. They do that for you as you drive them down the road... :hahaha:

Now you have a tow vehicle you can get an SJ just for off roading and tow it about ;)

Man it was a few years back when I sold the '88 SJ (a regret  )

Since then had two Land Rover 90 Station Wagons, a twin cab Toyota Hilux (which I still have - had to buy this as the LRs kept getting stolen :pissed: )
Also had an LJ80 that I loved but no one else did so that went.
And last week I bought a '92 Samurai that has lived in Cyrus for the last decade or so...haven't really looked at it yet but it appears strangely solid for a Spanish built one of these...had two previously and neither where anywhere near as good as the Jap SJs.

I sold, gave away, chucked out all my Suzuki parts a few years ago when we moved to a bigger unit...another regret - so I will be on the hunt for parts myself....

Good luck with the build dude

If you need to tow should have messaged me you could have had mine for cheap 😁, the old Xl7 td still has some towing left in her! Like others are saying needs are must its a shame Suzuki don't do a hilux/L200 size towcar workhorse to be fair.
