Marves 410 van

Post by marve114 » Tue Dec 25, 2018 1:31 pm

Hi guys

Did put a post up in the newbies section

This is my little 410 I drove around and looked a few before taking the plunge on this one .

It had its issues I think I overpaid but that’s the way it goes

So been tinkering with the old thing a bit

When I got it it had death wobble at 45mph and I drove home to Orpington from bexhill was like a ww2 bomber on a bomb run .
The main power cable that powers ignition was just push into the positive terminal .
I drove this home in the dark and it could of just fell out hahaha

You might say I should of looked over it better but the shell was pretty solid that was my main concern .

I did away with the odd alloys in favour of a set of wheelers 215/75-15 insas

Later to go was the bumper for a winch bumper
Fitted a roof box

Gave the little 410 a new exhaust cam belt oil filter and pulled a lot of bodged wiring out

Fitted a little set of shackles

I’ve got the 3” calminis I might fit but might remove a few leafs from the pack as I’ve read they can be STIFF .
I was thinking of the springs with a body lift and samurai axles and 31’s

That or spoa but I read a lot of bad stuff about this conversion but know a couple of guys running like it and say it’s ok

I guess it’s trail and error

Also like the idea of external roll cage and 1.6 conversion

Also on the list is a servo for the brakes and possibly rear disc conversion.

Also seen the rock lobster transfer case conversion on here probably do that as well .

So got a lot going on to think about

Slowly getting parts together
Axles there as well as a vitara servo

Hopefully got a high steer kit sorted

I’m just toying with the idea whilst the axles off to do rear disc brakes using the sj fronts up rear

No progress really
I’ve taken callipers and discs off front axle

Waiting for my bro in law to Knock up some perches out of some 3mm box

Once there done and all set up and welded on I can push on
Going todo rear disc conversion whilst it’s all off.
Trying to get hold of the guys at Muddyzook to get a bolt on kit

Looks like I might have to quickly do a pinion seal on the rear diff hopefully I can sort that by popping one out and popping one back in .
Gotta strip the rear brakes off to get ready for the conversion

Other thing on the list will be some 31’s to get more axle clearance

Not sure if to get wheel set or just tyres I guess I see what size rims I’ve got on at the moment
