Only really need to change the diff ratios when you go to 33s and up.

1.6, lobster and 31s is a really good match.

Ordered a new rear pinion seal
New swivel seals
Bro in law has fun drilling out the 5mm thick box with a whole saw

I removed the u bolt locatey postitiony plates and started grinding out this perch to go over the differential pumpkin as this one is wider than the rest .
My idea is to get the perch as low as possible to the top of the axle to help reduce spring warp and the such .

Having a play tonight looks like I can get the perches sorted with a 10mm upstand this will allow me to grind out the side for the pumpkin and keep the rest equal

Once these perch’s are postitioned center 40mm inwards from originals and running parallel to existing perches we shall weld them on.

I then plan on carefully removing the original perches and move them inwards and weld back on and brace the 2 together
Just in case I don’t get on with spoa I can go spua.

Rear axle welded up

Removed handbrake brackets and original perches just got to tidy up and bit more .

Tempted to put a plate over the axle where the u bolts go for a bit of extra strength for the axle where the old perches was.

It’s a slow moving project at the moment

Nice job, did you move the originals inwards and brace the two perches together like you planned?

No I didn’t it was a good idea but the originals was such a pig to get off I kinda killed them in the process.
I’m amazed people can get them off and reuse them if I’m honest
