Not had chance to do anything on sj for a while. Been deciding what to do with rear brakes and settled on mx5 rear calipers. Means ill have a decent handbrake and easy to maintain rear brakes.
So i made a start this morning.
Calipers are now mounted, ready to mount the mx5 cables, flexis to be ordered.

Mx5 calipers look like they could be a good option for rear discs, have you got any closer pics? Are Mx5 rear discs a similar diameter to Sj front discs?

Better pics are on my to do list. The calipers im using are from a 1.8 mk2 but im led to believe all 1.8's up to mk2.5 are the same. They have an excellent handbrake adjustment.
A quick google shows sj discs at 10mm, 290mm
theres 2 listed for the mx5 one says 10mm x 276mm, the other 9mm x 251mm.
The caliper doesnt quite cover all of the sj disc but it does utilise all of the mx5 pad.

I've kept looking on the builds page to see if you've had chance to do anymore to your motor! They look the part shouldn't have any problem stopping with that set up I wouldn't have thought.

Managed to get an hour at my unit, closer pics of brakes. You can see on the rear of caliper picture, a bolt right behind the piston, underneath this is an allen key that adjust the piston position for handbrake, really easy to adjust and works really well. Time will tell, hopefully by end of week ill have handbrake cables on and hoses to give them a proper test
