So, not an update but abit more info on mx5 calipers if anyones interested.
Theres 2 types of 1.8 rear caliper from 1998 to 2005. A 251mm and a 276mm disc version.
I have used a 251mm version without realising but its working better than any handbrake set up iv had before and better than my friends jimny with rover 600 calipers.
A 276mm version should work even better with more pad to disc surface area.
The first picture is the 251mm pads (distinctive pad design)
The second is the 276mm pads
Handbrake cable i have used the mx5, both rear sections then modified the middle cable as per my pics of handbrake setup.

Today was the first offroad outing and excell it did. Its completely different to how a leaf sprung handles the offroad. I was a little concerned that on full flex it wouldnt have enough pressure on the ground to grip but i have a video showing otherwise! Couple of pics

Thanks chaps :rockin:

Jordi - :hahaha: it used to be mine for a brief period last year. We had just taken the anti roll bar off to see if it could actually get anywhere, compared to my white sj its pityful, let alone the turqoise one!

This looks bloody brilliant mate. Job well done!!

The only thing I noted was the rear brake lines on the back of the axle - if you were to do any serious off roading in it id be wanting them above the axle... That said, a branch can get anywhere if one gets it wrong!...

Thank you very kind!
So far other than them lanes she's been a tarmac princess so the brake lines aren't an issue! I really do need to get her muddy more. Surely there's a Suzuki club UK green lane event overdue.......... 😁
