Well I've had an eventful couple of days...

Finally had some time to get on with finishing bits, got the new alternator fitted and a belt that would fit (823mm) the alternator must have a larger dia pulley than before. Also picked up a new temp sensor as the spade terminal had snapped off the old one.
My manifold has been away to Rockwatt for machining and got that back and fitted, got all the pulleys and belts on. Fitted the rad and connected all the pipe work up and filled with coolant.........

Only for it to all leak out on the floor ffs! Argh!
So today I took it all apart again and found the water pump to be leaking!

Image

water isn't supposed to come out of that hole

Luckily I had a new water pump and gasket in my pile of spares. However as sj's love to make like difficult 2 of the heads snapped off the bolts holding the water pump as soon as I put a socket on them.

Again luckily I managed to file a couple of spanner flats on the protruding studs and with a lot of gt85 and a big adjustable spanner they came out.

Got the new pump fitted then realised the 4 studs that hold the pulley and the fan weren't in the new water pump so had a nice mole grip session to get them out and swapped over.

And finally after a couple of cold hours it was all back together and filled the rad and thankfully it's holding the coolant now.

Lastly fitted a couple of new spade connectors for temp sensor and starter motor and for the 2 alternator connections (may have to swap them over as not sure which cable goes on which terminal till I get a battery attached) and fitted a new throttle cable (mountain bike brake cable) and fitted new choke cable

So just the front clip to reattach and fit battery, tune carb and fingers crossed!!

yea hopefully, its all back together now and has decided it doesn't want to start... not sure how good the battery is so have to wait and get a multimeter on it. other than that check the timing, put some fresh fuel in, along with new plugs and leads and a oil change and a carb tune and it'l be ready for mot check
if in doubt, FLAT OUT!

Well after a couple of days out laning and generally just driving it hard my back had had enough, of flat inside out leaf springs and bouncing off the bump stops all the time. So i finally pulled my finger out and did something about it
