60ps or 64ps

Hi everyone,

How do I know if my 1986 Suzuki sj413 jx is 60PS or 64PS? Nothing on log book!

Also, what's the recommend clutch please? 99% of use is on the road,

Also any seals or anything else needed for a clutch replace?

PS? sorry I don't work in that :lol:

Probably 60hp nowadays if you are lucky, only started with 63hp/46.9KW so probably even less :lol:

I always use LUK clutches. you could change the rear crank oil seal and gearbox input seal while its out but unless they are leaking I wouldn't bother as it's so easy to pull the gearboxes out anyway.

Thanks Scottie, I might do as there is evidence of oil leaks underneath,

What I mean is, whenever I search for parts, there are 2 different versions that come up for my car,

60PS: 08.1986-08.1990

64PS: 09.1984-08.1990

Both bring up different parts when searching on car part websites.

Luk clutch on mister auto for around £100 sound the right price?

There are two different ones, on is 180mm diameter and the other 190mm diameter.

Most parts should be identical engine wise for the carbed G13 8v.

What are you looking for exactly?

Fit a 190mm clutch, tbh not even sure why there is 2 clutch sizes listed.

You will soon learn that online car parts places are useless for Sj's, with things like brakes there are lots of variations and then other stuff they all use the same parts.

You are best off using local motor factors and main dealers really unless you can visually identify the parts on the websites you are using.

Yes brakes have been a nightmare getting the right parts! Thing is local motor factors are a fair bit more expensive, for instance Euro car parts sell the aisin clutch kit but it's £162

I think I'll order the luk clutch kit which is around £105 including postage.

Cool, a lot of us use the luk clutches and they last well.

I've had the same one fitted ever since I went 1.6.

Right, before I click the buy button, I have a receipt here for a paddle clutch fitted in 2013 so the clutch is only 4 years old, should it last longer than that? Is it definitely the clutch? The cable adjustment is maxed out and the clutch is very high and occasionally slips?

Scottie, I have asked lots of questions on here that have all been answers, can't fault it on bit :)

Is the sj driven on road? Paddle clutches have less surface area in contact, so although they have more pressure and grip more they also wear faster.

clutch wear all depends on a number of factors, usage, gearing etc. If you don't have enough gear reduction for your tyres then it increases clutch usage as well as putting more strain on the clutch.

Yea, a little research and it seems a paddle clutch doesn't last so well for normal use, especially in a lot of stop/start?

Yes sj used 99% for daily use on the road, I don't have mega tyres fitted, just slightly larger than standard on 15" rims.
