Our Spare Tyre Age LOL

Post by maxaret » Mon Jun 21, 2021 8:48 am

On our 2005 Grand Vitara I only occasionally look at our spare tyre as it is hidden away behind a metal cover.
I was thinking of doing a slight wheel rotation for evening out the tyre wear etc and had a close look at our spare - which still has the little rubber 'bobbles' on the tread - ie completely unused.
I checked the manufacturers date on it and it said 2404 so therefore it is the original Bridgestone Dueler 688 and manufactured in the middle of 2004  ,my original plan was to put that on a back wheel and shuffle the other wheels a bit for best tyre wear.
But then I realised that the previous owner had fitted 'Directional' Tyres so I could not really use one of them as a 'Spare'.
In the end I transposed the 2 N/S Tyres because the N/S Front Tyres was showing slight scrubbing on the outside whereas the rear N/S looked much better.
We do try to avoid using full lock on the steering but occasionally one has to LOL
