It's gotta be an import. I think they called them the vitara sport in some countries.

What exactly does it say for the make and model on the v5?

Who have you been trying for insurance?? Might be best to go with a specialist like Adrian flux.

Private message me your VIN and I'll do some checking

This is a Vitara not "Grand Vitara" :er:

There are 1st gen vitaras with the 2.0, came out around 97 I think, we just didn't get them however I have seen a few imports in the U.K. Up for sale on eBay and on other forums etc.

Yeah I think you're right it has to be an import. On the v5 it's just got vitara 2.0 v6 as the model. I'm guessing that when it was imported that was the only 2.0 model on the system???
I will probably go with the insurance company I used last year and have to insure it as v6

I would try to get it insured properly as a 2.0.

Insurers will do anything to avoid paying out so if you had an accident and they realised it's not a V6 you might have issues.

Well it took me a while and the only place they seem to readily be is Australia and are the SV420G

Well after checking some Australian sites I see the VIN should be JSAETA51 not JSAETAS1 :poke:
Easy mistake, should have gone to specsavers ;)

Tried the revised VIN number and have come up with this

Hope everything matches, just as well I don't give up easily :D

The SV420 is 4 cylinder diesel, SV420G 4 cylinder petrol and SV620 V6 petrol.

Wow! Fair play mate that is my vehicle, can't thank you enough.
I've contacted the dvla and told them the situation and they insisted that I need a letter from Suzuki to confirm that someone has balls'd up the v5 at some point. I've been searching the Internet looking for a legit vin number checking site to help me put my case together.
It's all becoming a complete ball ache for a £500 car but I'm not going to give up now :D
