I'm a new boy this is my SJ410

Post by Imarr » Sun Nov 15, 2020 11:33 am

Hello all I've uploaded pics of my SJ not much to look at but I've had it since 1986 and am the second owner. I'm now in the throes of pulling it back together but I'm 72 yrs old and my wife and I are renovating a bungalow so it's going to take a little longer than anticipated but hey ho. The engine, gearbox, brakes are all good I done these a couple of years ago but body work is not my best but I'm persevering as you know the body is quite thin for welding. The jeeps been around a bit I drove it through France and down to the Alicante area of Spain in 1994 and spent a year in that area doing mobile engine tuning in it. The body went to pot when I came back to UK and started doing Landscape gardening and building and like an idiot I used to fill the back of it up with bricks, patio slabs, cement, garden waste and the usual lawn mower etc but I never kept the hidden bits clean from the dirt etc.
My latest purchase, other than filler and welding rod/wire, was last month a nice pair if Tan Faux Leather seats plus extra material to cover the back seat and door cards.
Well that's my intro oh and I've got through 2 cylinder heads when I've had the can shafts seize up but now it has the modified head and front cover.

how was the trip to Alicante back in 1994, what sort of time did it take and what difficulties did you encounter? thanks
