Addiction

Post by k44rll » Thu Apr 15, 2021 4:52 pm

Hi my name is Karl and I'm a Suzukiholic........Phew that feels better!!

It all started 32 years ago with a white 1987 SJ410 and i got into the wrong crowd at Rhino Rallys and the Dutch Terrain Treffen and has spiralled out of control since ending up with me trying all sorts of stuff Samurais, Vitara's, Grand Vitara's, Jimnys and even X90.......twice!

I think i am in control of things now as I only have a 2018 Vitara S Allgrip, 2015 Jimny SZ4, 2015 S-Cross SZ5 Allgrip, Jimny JB23W 660cc, Suzuki Carry 4wd 660cc and a 1985 SJ410V Van
( I also have a stash of Suzuki Motorcycles/Generators/Water Pumps that I don't tell anyone about)

Look forward to any support you can give

Karl

Well done for standing up and facing your Suzuki demons. Rest assured we will all help you to increase your addictions, but maybe twice is enough for an X90... :hahaha:
If it ticks over...leave it

My first SJ410Q, the side decals lasted about 48hrs before i was driving down the road and someone shouted "Your Surfer Has Fell Over" and i was peeling off the decals and spent a further week removing the glue with a petrol soaked rag...

It was also my first foray into RTV trials with the Midland Off Road Club

Then came the Samurai...

The opposite end of the scale to my Yellow SJ is my Vitara S Automatic AllGrip...

Really nice collection!

Love the SJ.

Is the Vitara a 1.4 boosterjet? Any good off-road?

Thank you both for the comment on the SJ, as I mentioned it is a rolling restoration as I try to rectify 35 years of people not fitting the correct parts so I am trying to get it as close to what it was from the factory, even the 215/75R15 BFG's are being replaced with the oe size 195R15
You can see some of the mechanical restoration i have done here...

Yes the Vitara is a 1.4 Boosterjet, with no low range and 185mm ground clearance it is never going to be Jimny/SJ capable but the Allgrip system works surprisingly well especially in snow
I have changed the 17" alloys to 16" with Yokohama Geolandar AT tyres, Rival Skid Plate, Rival Fuel Tank Guards and a Scut Rear Diff Guard and been on several Alps trips following the disused military trails

Nice mods on the Vitara! I wanted to buy one a few years back but they seem to hold their money really well! So they were a bit over what I wanted to spend. Would still like one some day.
