My '85 410

Post by djc » Thu Dec 23, 2021 8:52 am

Promised a few pics a while ago - here we are. My third SJ and had it about 6 years now. Found it down in Somerset, guy selling was a total nightmare to deal with but finally sorted something. Had been repainted original colour before I got it. I've had bullbar, rollbar, wheels and a few bits powder-coated. New tyres, carb swap to an SU, new brake servo (to make space for the mani/carbs. Had the 1.3/5 speed in when I got it, but retains 410 Tbox and diffs so it is somewhat low geared but I like it that way.
Planning new springs & dampers soon, no mods as I keep it as original as I can. Has later seats in, would love to find a pair of oiginals (no headrest).
Just been cleaned so a bit shiny!!

Love to see an unmolested original SJ - such a rare sight these days...

Which supplier / manufacturer did you use for your hood?

And even though you always say 'no mud'...it's an SJ - so even your lovely restored example is parked on 'mud' for the snaps above :hahaha:

Thanks Paul. The hood was with it when I got it though it was new back then - I'll check who made it. It's still good cos it only goes on briefly in winter, when the postman stops wearing shorts... November - early March.

Did you buy this off a guy called Rich? It looks familiar and he was in Somerset.

If it’s the one I think it is then I saw it in person many years ago and it was very tidy.

Looks like it’s still really tidy :D
