Front Diff 2001 Vitara

hi to all ,
just thinking of doing a budget mod to get 4WD engaging...my airpump that ingages front diff is not working ....
so im thinking of just running a pipe to front with a tire valve on other end to hold pressure ....then rigging a digital tyre pump set at 10-12 pounds(psi) and plugging into the cigi lighter when i enter the off road green lane or quarry..... i read the diff will hold pressure indefinately
then psssst release air when leaving .....any thoughts???....has anyone done this? would cost 20-30 quid for bits...
