Oil light reset

Post by Newry » Fri Feb 01, 2019 10:36 pm

I have a2016 Diesel Vitara 4x allgrip auto and want to change the oil myself. How do I reset the oil change light. The YouTube instructions don't work.
Anybody have the correct method without a Dealer computer.

Any garage with a generic reset tool can do it, not a job you can do yourself. My local independent reset mine.

Anyone with an OBD2 reader should be able to do it. *should*...
1985 SJ413VX (SJ50V) with SPOA, rear disc brakes, 31x10.5R15 Kaiman Malatesta tyres, an MOT and a lot left to do!

Unfortunately, an OBD tool won't do it. My independent has a generic (Sun I think) tool that can do it, it's been done many times.

Had to go to the dealer. No work around available for the diesel engine.

1. Foot on accelerator and keep it depressed.for entire procedure.
2. Power on button twice to switch ignition on but not engine.
3. Press Left trip button until odometer B is selected.
4. Press and hold Right menu button.
5. Pump brake pedal 3-4 times and wait.
6. When Change Oil Warning has cleared, release the accelerator.
Job done... It may take more than 1 attempt.

:D Went into reset menu, and no oil change to clear on dash available, car is vitara 1.6 deisel 2016, so tried this method, foot accelerator down, power up twice, but not start, pressed left then right trip and light dash buttons holding down right while pumping foot brake 3-4 times, oil change light then went off ,release foot accelerator, it does work, garage quoted me £ 20 to do it. Thank you Parkey 72
