Engine ID

Post by Fer777 » Sun Sep 01, 2019 5:40 am

Hi there,

Probably / hopefully first of many posts. As i am completely new to the vitara i have a lot to catch up on. My model is an 03 grand vitara 2.0td. I have been told its the peugeot engine. A quick search and there seems to b 2 types of peugeot engines. How do i know what type i have.? As I kinda see this as an on-going project I am starting at the beginning, new timing belt an a quick look as to why its a bit sluggish low down n a bit smokey high up the revs.

Any info would b gr8.

thanks

Hiya,
my 2002 GV had a Peugeot RHZ 16v engine, 2.0TD , the early GV had a Mazda engine in them, I believe pre 2000.
mine was classed as a Type 2 , as in Suzuki code = SQ420WD-2
I would say , yours would likey be the same.
best way to find out , is either at a Suzuki dealer or a suzuki boffin on here.

abit of advice, always use some DPF cleaner additive, in the fuel tank, and sometimes a injector cleaner in the fuel tank. Always read instructions for use.
I loved my GV but traded it in for a 2017 Ignis, then 10 months later, traded that in for a 2017 Vitara.
only did that as Ignis is compact, nothing wrong , just needed bigger space.
Currently Drive

Did have a IGNIS SZ5 4X4 2017 (BLACK)
Did have a GRAND VITARA 2.0 TD 2002 (GREEN)
Did have a JIMNY JLX 2001 (RED)
Did have a SJ 413V 1987 (SILVER)
Did have a BMW320i 1984 (PETROL BLUE)
