67 Vitara DDiS 1.6 AllGrip TCSS Clutch Failure

Post by WillDC » Thu Sep 16, 2021 5:34 pm

Hi, newbie to forum.

Basically my Vitara started making a really bad noise and dropping gears on the motorway at 50mph and I pulled over and got a recovery cos it sounded BAD..

I've had it in the dealer and they took it apart and the clutch plates are rotating and grinding with the engine, hence the noise, and it's caused damage to the actuator. I've been given a very hefty repair bill just for the parts, and I'm hoping that there's someone out there that has any idea of any cheaper options to get the car fixed that won't cost half the value of the car?

They called out need for new actuator and clutch assembly and it's way over £5,000 so far just in parts.

Thanks - Will

Thanks Rankine

The clutch itself isn't that expensive, it's the other parts that are causing the problem. Been looking all over including eBay for parts and got the part numbers from the garage, so had a look online and found the actuator selling for over £3,000. So it seems the prices they said are legit somehow, even though it makes no sense to me at all how something could be worth that much.

I'm open to looking at just finding a replacement gearbox, which would probably be cheaper, but I'd need to be sure that the one I get has an actuator that works. Regret going for the TCSS now I see how difficult they are when a problem happens like this.

If anyone knows of cheap TCSS gearbox (with working actuators) going, please let me know.

Cheers, Will

Just for reference, the main (expensive) parts needed are below -
22000 55PF0 - Twin Clutch Assembly
23100 55PF1 - Actuator
23820 55PF1 - Cylinder Clutch

Just had an update from Suzuki UK on the parts that the dealership said need replaced.
Couldn't believe the pricing, but here it is from Suzuki itself -

23100-55PF1-000 - Clutch Actuator £3599.50
22000-55PF0-000 - Clutch Assembly £1238.47
23820-55PF1-000 - Even Cylinder £274.80
23810-55PF0-000 - Odd Cylinder £347.70

If anyone can help me save the car and a few thousand pounds, it would be massively appreciated.
Thanks, Will
