Yes please!

Those would be very useful to have.

From memory, a 75/90 viscosity gear oil is specified in the Vitara rather than straight grade.

Correction, 75/80 not 75/90!

Any manufacturer/brand/type recommendations for GL -4 Oils Scottie/Anybody ?

Also is there a part number list/chart/ kit of sealing washers for the various Transmission/Diff drain plugs.

I am planning to do all the oils at some stage before winter - starting with Front Diff.

Thanks Baz

As above
Our early 2005 G Vitara 1600 auto has just passed MOT with flying colours and I would really like to change all the transmission oils.
Obviously need GL4 for Transfer Box + Front Diff
+ GL5 for Rear Diff.
Any recommandations ?
I was looking at Millers TRX Fully Synth 75w90 which is labelled as GL4/GL5 compatible - would it be ok for all 3 components or would it be safer to stick to 'proper' GL4 for the Front Diff ?

Also which sealant is used to seal up the drain/fill plugs ?

Any info gratefully received :)

Its only the manual gearbox that needs GL-4 or a yellow metal safe gearbox oil like the Millers TRX , both diffs and the tbox are fine with regular GL-5.

You can just use TRX for everything.

I have never applied sealant to the drain or filler plugs personally.

Many thanks for the reply/info Scottie.
I was only double checking because of what it says in the Owners Handbook - it says GL4 for Front Diff and Transfer Box with GL5 for the Rear Diff.
Using just the one oil for all 3 is much easier - I will get some on order :D

Re the sealant question - again it is mentioned in the Owners Manual - but I never used any either when I used to do diffs - although that was a long time ago when RWD cars were the norm

cheers/rgds baz

PS - did you get my PM about heat shields ?
