Help with soft top hood identification

Post by Ade316 » Sun May 10, 2015 11:06 pm

Hi I recently bought a two piece soft top from eBay made by besttop.com. I've done some research and can't identify the instructions for it though. It's definitely for a Mark 1 Vitara as it has the clips for the canopy at the front rather than the press studs. Clearly there's supposed to be a fitting to secure the front and rear sections to the sports bar area in the middle of the car. There's a lip on each section for this purpose. Strangely though it looks like the front section would be secured at the mid point of the sports bar which doesn't look right.
Can anyone help to identify instructions for fitting this, or has anyone experience of this soft top?

Thank you very much
Adrian

Hood is in two sections (three including rear window). Side windows detach with zips too.

Front section of hood looks to be secured on top of the sports bar rather than at its edge. There's a lip on both sections to secure to something.

Straps to tighten front section as with the standard issue hood.

can't help you on the fitting, but have been looking at Bestop for my SJ - they look very nicely made and they do a neat strapless bikini (tidy ;) ). Once you have it fitted let us know re quality of materials, fitting (actual shape, wrinkles etc) and hardware. They make em look really good in the online brochure, but they would.

Thanks, the quality looks good. However I'm increasingly thinking this might be for a Grand Vitara due to the front section overlapping the sports bar. I didn't think the Grand Vitara would have the Velcro window fitting or the hooks at the front (I thought the GV used press studs)?

My Mk1 Vit has a soft top roof and it doesn't look like yours. Think they may have sent out the wrong kit.

Thanks for the manual. I found this too but it's for the one piece hood rather than two piece. Can't track down the two piece. At the moment it looks like this...
