how do you go about setting the steering lock? i have the car up on a tramp on thursday and saturday so can do it then.

The steering is stopped by one of the nuts that holds the backing plate onto the hub.
If you look at the back of the hub there are a load of the 12mm headed bolts going all the way around the hub.
One of them stops the steering turning any further

sticking brake pads? ive just had a similar thing on the sj and one of the pads was getting jammed. probs not it?

If you have a look around the steering linkage the adjuster is quite easy to spot, its a bolt and locknut.

well that explains it! the backing plate has rotted away on that side and the passenger side is close to the end. i was going to fit new ones when i stripped and cleaned the front hubs.twiss wrote:The steering is stopped by one of the nuts that holds the backing plate onto the hub.
