death wobble and kingpins

Post by andyrew » Sun Apr 03, 2016 10:46 pm

So my other halfs jimny has always had a bit
Of wobble but this has now got worse.
Quick inspection yesterday reveals play in the kingpins
(A proper clunk either side) but also alot of play
In the steering box. I can see an adjuster nut on top of the box
So assume this can be tweaked out .

Just a quick double check question really. But are jimny king
Pin bearings the same as used on the sjs? The half shaft oil seal too? I know the swivel seals are differnt so im going to just clean
The old ones up.
Its just ive got an axle rebuild kit here for my sami but if i can pinch the bearings from it i can get another kit at a later date.

Am i also right in thinking the sj and jimnys both use the same
Front brake disks?

I know the seals are the same, had to do mime the other week. And do believe King pins are as well, been a while since I last did mine. Have a look at big Jimny shop, well recommend them
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good

Hey bud,

Kingpins, bearings and seals are the same, you're correct about the swivel seals being different.

Discs are also different, the Jimny has a slightly larger internal diameter to fit the hub, as I found to my annoyance.

Hope this helps. :rockin:

Cheers dudes.

Well that saves me some time and money.

Didnt realise the discs were differnt. Shame as ive got sj ones "in stock" Seems to be they are the same as vit and x90 discs.

Found some cheap on ebay. But are all jimny discs the same?
