Finally got me a 410

Post by jimnbill » Sat Jan 28, 2017 7:03 pm

Hi guys me (jim) and my buddy bill have just got our first 410 and love it. she is proper solid and already been lifted and big wheels and tyres put on but the steering is not great i expected some handling issues cos of tyres but this little thing handles like a barge. anything over 45mph and she is just dangerous. is there anything i should look at first or could it just be the tyres? i'm thinking rack/bushes. also thinking of upgrading the power plant but not sure whats the best/easiest thing to go for any help or pointing in the right direction would be awesome.

Welcome to the club.

Steering issues could be number of things. What kind of lift has been done?

What is the steering problem?

Quickest easiest engine upgrade is a Vitara 1.6 8v.

:welcome:

More details of the set up and ideally some pics needed please.

Big tyres don't make them drive badly but poor suspension, steering and alignment set up does.

On 33" tyres I can comfortably drive along with one hand on the wheel at 70+mph in mine ;)

The shackles can cause problems with the steering, they can move side to side but look solid. I had 3" on mine and they were all over the place.
Get a mate to turn the steering while you watch for movement. Yeah I bent both front springs once, driving in woods, as they hit stuff that you don't even see

Loose the shackles and fit some standard ones. it will solve some of the handling issues and reduce the likelihood of you bending more springs. Long shackles lower the front of the springs making it more likely to hit things and reduce your caster angle.
