Damn relays...

Who would've though that relays can be so touchy?

I've put an electric fan on my zook, with a relay to switch the power on and off...
First off, the fuse didn't fit in the holder properly, so wiggled around while driving and eventually melted the fuse!!!
Secondly, the switching on and off with the fuse wiggling has broken the relay for the fan.

I've been driving thinking, why is it getting up to 90*? it normally sits around 70* with the fan on continuously, all kinds of ideas going through my head...

OMFG head gasket going!!! overheating!!! arrrrgh!!!

It's the damn relay!!! The annoying thing is, I thought the same thing when the fuse was wiggling and it was overheating!!!

Swear at it for a bit and if that doesn't help, replace the relay and either get a different fuse holder or use electricians tape to hole the fuse still.

I've got a different holder and relay now...
I would think that if a blade fuse fits in the fuse box it would fit in a blade fuse holder

I guess that's wishful thinking

Rrrrright, so I've just bought another relay and fitted it... the only issue is, the relay stays switched to "on" even when the trigger feed (from ignition) is switched off...

... and switches off if you tap it...

I guess it's another duff relay!
It stays on even if you disconnect the trigger wires completely...
Could earthing cause a relay to stay switched on?

Sorry! I didn't mean it to come accross like that It was ment more as a jovial dig! In honesty I have no idea what the compenents were like but it sounded like cheap bits I should know I use them enough!
