Back in an sj
Signed up here a few years ago when I owned a pretty heavily modded sj, but sadly it never saw any action in my hands and never got the bastard running properly, house move etc forced sale before I could get it fixed.
I've now bought a slightly more sensible - mot'd - clean (for a 30y old off roader) 1989 sj410
Seems to have standard drivers side lean, and super stiff suspension.
Found it had a snapped spring on drivers side that wasn't helping so replaced that and just looking to keep it mechanically sound atm (famous last words)
Most importantly, I can fit the bike in the back - just

Re: Back in an sj
An eventful week with petrol this week.
Ran out of fuel on about 2 minutes from home, had to get towed home by a berlingo ...
Then filled it up for the first time and found a nice puddle growing under the tank when I was at home
Turns out the combination of 2 small jubilee clips wasn't up to the job, managed to replace it with a big one from the shed without losing to much more fuel, must have been about £5 spilt on my drive though by the time I'd finished :(

A berlingo, how embarrassing.

ha yeah probably should have kept that to myself!
Re: Back in an sj
Possibly the filler neck tube isn't sealing properly, it's dripping in the right place for that

Yeah that was the problem, put a bigger jubilee clip on and all seems to be ok.ScottieJ wrote:Possibly the filler neck tube isn't sealing properly, it's dripping in the right place for that
