There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: hi all
Yeah, I know it's quite an amusing concept...
We have taken it for some mild off roading on the road tyres, and it's reasonably capable!
I think that's something to do with the 4.8 v8!
You get stuck... apply power
Wikipedia says its got 355bhp, and I'd say it definitely feels like it does!

now that i would love to see.. just for a good laugh.. becuase... it would utterly rediculous.
drove the new V70 volvo D5.... rather one of those over an X5.... bloody shifted like a missile, probably less likely to turn over going round a round a bout in orpington on a shcool run.
and yeah twiss... seperating banger from SJ is a good idea... my SJ is old. rusty.. tie rap'd together but it is not a bnager... becuase i care about it...
a banger by definition is something you couldnt give a sh*t about like an early 90's corrola with mismatched doors and no central locking... someone keys it.... you dont notice for a month.
someone key'd my SJ, i noticed the same day. was pissed off but accepted another battle scare.
thats love. so. not a banger.

Re: hi all
Mine's not so much of a banger, but it does have cable ties here and there
(mostly holding cables )
I love my SJ to bits, I think if it was a regular car and as much stuff went wrong
(not that much recently, but historically... )
I'd probably scrap it!
My g/fs 106, the CV went, then the anti-roll bar, now the clutch... and I'm tempted to scrap that!!!

Re: hi all
This is something I've had trouble explaining to my Dad, who was against me getting an SJ, due to parts cost, weight, reliability and the fact it wasn't a vauxhall (of which he has 4 Astra MK2s an '03 Omega and a 2010 Corsa 1.7TD), and actually bought a mk1 Corsa 1.0 12v three-pot in as gooder condition as my later SJ is now.
I eventually outright told him to sell it, having spoken to my Mum (parents are seperated and remarried so you know otherwise this won't make much sense) and she seemed more understanding. An SJ is a vehicle I can relate to, being not especially sporty or fit at 17 stone and being bigger than all my peers too. It's a tenacious old breed with personality and soul, much like old Landies, Rover P5s, VW Campers, 2CVs, Beetles, Minis, Mustangs etc.
Love 'em or hate 'em, you can't deny that they all have a unique charm to them.

Re: hi all
and they're actually quite easy to work on as well! Much easier than regular cars, just because there's so much room!!!
