Musical tastes

Post by albertross74 » Tue Nov 23, 2010 1:09 am

Just wondering what kinda music people on this forum are into?

I like a bit of everything really, apart from really cheesey drum and bass, think they call it happy hardcore.

My real passion lies in metal though, from the old stuff like Black Sabbath, Slayer, Pantera through to more modern day stuff like Hatebreed, Every Time I Die, Killswitch Engage, Cancer Bats.

What are you guys into?

Everything!!!!! I have a very broad taste in music (and quite a large vinyl and CD collection to go with it  )

I was bought up listening to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Beatles and Sabbath etc. by my Dad and now have all his old Vinyls
I mostly listen to Punk, Southern Rock, Metal and Psychobilly + a bit of hip-hop (not gangsta crap!!!) and maybe some dance music here and there not forgetting the weird shit in between all that.

On my Mp3 player at the moment you'll find

Neurosis
King Missile
Isis
65days of static
Kyuss
NOFX
Sublime
Today is the Day
Justice
Now it's Overhead
Sage Francis
Reverend Horton Heat
Battle of Mice
The trailer park of terror soundtrack

+ lots of other Shat :smoke:

Oh and in the last few months I've been to see the Swingin Utters and A Storm of Light, both awesome bands!

NOFX and Sublime are definitely up there for me too Scott, not heard of many other bands you've listed, but judging by the fact you say you like metal and southern rock I will have to check them out! Sounds like you've had a similar upbringing to me learning from the old man, hopefully one day I'll be able to steal all my Dad's vinyls! ha

Check out Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, they're from Birmingham US, a modern southern metal band, I've seen them twice now, a really good band live and on record, you might dig them.

Yeah they sound pretty good :band: I've been a big fan of NOFX since I was about 11/12 and even have Vinyls by them that are older than me  I kind've gave up trying to buy all the NOFX vinyls in the end as it was starting to get a bit expensive! those two black and white 7"ers are the first ever 2 releases and would probably sell for over £100 each nowadays   I'm not saying how much i paid for them about 6 years ago!

I'll listen to any genre, all the way from hip-hop to death metal, but mostly stuff like Pendulum, Gorillaz, Linkin Park, The Wurzels and Captain Dan and the Scurvy Crew.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

hahaha, that's awesome!

Does anyone on here play any instruments?

I've been playing drums for a few years now, but spending half of my time in the UK studying means I can only play them when I'm home. I used to be in a band with my friends when I was at Sixth Form, we played a mix of covers and originals, we kind of went down the groove-ridden southern metal kinda sound. We're hoping to have a few practices when I go home at Christmas, and then to play a few gigs in the summer, and maybe get some recording done.
