Re: The project just started
As much as I love the attention to detail and quality of this restoration I just can't help but think those gauge clusters, although factory, are pretty ugly and ruin the dash.united1 wrote:Dashboard
Apart from that I love it! such an awesome build, you've done an incredible job.

I like em' but if they were mine I'd leave them as I guess the dash will have entry holes now, then maybe shunt them up together for a more unified look?ScottieJ wrote: .............................. those gauge clusters, .............................. ruin the dash.
Are you going to add the OEM black plastic wheel arches? as I'm a big fan of the JDM style naked swage line you have now
Re: The project just started
I totally agree with you. In fact I have another dash without gauges and the plan was to install the clean one and leave the gauges one as a show only dash. My brother made me change my mind. He said that since my target was/is to built one of the few sj that are with all the factory extras, I should put the ugly dash. Still not sure if I made the right decision . I might change it to the other clean dash one day.

I should put the plastic arches next week
Re: The project just started
What a brilliant idea. Best of both worlds then. I guess it’s a little bit of work to swap them? I’ve never really had a proper look at how the early dashes come apart but I’m trying to get one for my Lwb as I love the early style dash.united1 wrote:I totally agree with you. Not much. The real work was to connect the rpm, amp and volt meters. The dash itself is easy , the speedometer is connected with just one plug.
Re: The project just started
I lost all my photos of the restoration process :(
Is there a way I can at least get the photos I uploaded in this forum? Thanks

Apparently Twiss had a backup of all the photos so you could maybe ask him, he won’t post me a disc with them all on
