They were cheaper than anything else about that I could find, good solid arches, they aren't flimsy. Delivery was 3 days.

They look really similar to the pacer performance ones from the US, Tim lives quite close to there so maybe I’ll get him to grab me some and stuff them in his suitcase next time he comes over

Finally got round to fitting the aluminium expansion bottle. Had to drill and weld new fittings to make it work. I did all the chopping and drilling while James worked his magic with the tig. Struggled to find some aluminium tube big enough so had to think outside of the box. Thanks to the NHS my crutches sacrificed 25mm off one of them! Exactly one bolt hole difference

So finally got round to sorting a few little jobs I had been putting off. Side lights, fog lights, number plate lights, wax oil the underneath (not quite finished), change rear diff seal and give it a wash and get some pics for agreed value.
Booked in for mot Saturday, let's hope I'm not forgetting anything.

Also took Scotties advice on getting some 10.5" tyres for off-road, bit extreme but the price was irresistible and the write ups even better.
Measure 33.4" in height not fitted, £130 a tyre delivered. Acelera badak xtreme
Iv ordered some 30mm wheel spacers and will use the shogun alloys I bought earlier this year. Will use this combo if I go trialing or to a pay and play.

First proper test run, gearbox started leaking and diff breather issues.
Pulled both gearbox and transfer box out so I can get them rebuilt for piece of mind. Diff needs either a splash plate or some kind of catch can to stop oil pushing up the breather.
Mot has passed and it actually drives really quite well.

Those new tyres look ace, curious as to why you’ve gone for spacers as well when the yota axles are already a fair bit wider than SJ axles? I’ve always found the SJs really stable without spacers when they are kept to a sensible height.

Yes if the oil leaks are the only teething issues then it's not done bad. It's always in the last 10% of the build you get excited and things get overlooked!
The reason I have had to use spacers is for some reason the Toyota steering arm is so close to the inside of the rim and actually touches the alloys. I won't be using the spacers with the steels, only for the alloys. Also the steels are 10" wide with et-32 and the alloys are 7" with et10 approx.
Yes I agree sjs are alot more stable than people give credit for, that's why they are the best 4x4's
