hi all been reading up a lot on this site and found a lot of usefull info

i bought my sj last year from north devon and got my brother to drive it back :lol: 50 miles into the journey home off came the prop was crappin it managed to nick some bolts off the winch to bodge it back on and made it home im now looking at completly re building it due to the dreaded rust hopefully will be starting it very soon as its a quality little machine and cant wait to get it on the road ive bought a conversion kit for the vit 1600 8v engine from rob storr and have got an engine from my m8s rotton vit will deffinatly be needing some help tho as im no mechanic but up for the challenge

:welcome: to the club mate. Good luck with the project. SJ's are definitely a challenge but it will be worth it in the end, and they are well easy to work on :thumbup:

It's quite an easy conversion to do... I'm an IT guy by trade and I managed to do it ;)

If you get stuck we can help you out. Guildford's not really that far from me... I'm inbetween crawley and brighton

cheers guys going up my mates on saturday just found out hes got 2 vits up there one with power steering might have to do that conversion too also was just wondering if i could use the front brake set up off a vit to do the rear disc conversion does anyone know or have they done it??

cant wait to get started need to get hold of a mig anyone know where theres one going cheap??

oh and how do i put up the :snap:

your best option is to get the front caliper mounts off an sj for the conversion (not sure if vit ones fit) then use the vitara calipers on the front of the sj (they are bigger) and the sj calipers on the rear :thumbup:
