Vitara 1600 into SJ410

Post by Norv » Sat Oct 04, 2008 4:15 pm

Hi there,

I am just putting a 1600 into my 410 and at the moment have the engine and box mated and hovering in the engine bay on the forklift!

The rear gearbox mounting is on, now I have a massive gap to try and mount the engine. I have the vitara mounts, some 413 mounts and also my 410 mounts. I can't get any to line up anywhere near where they should. Has anyone done this to talk me through it or show me some pictures?

I will put some pictures up when I get home, at work currently so can't load them onto the computer.

Cheers, Mark.

If the engine mounts are the same as the 1.3 then there is a write up in the DIY page Clicky!! dont know if that will be any help to you!

No they are different, thats my main problem. I think I will have to make up some mounts thats all.

Just a lot easier if someone else has already done the trial and error phase!

Cheers, Mark.

you using the 410 box ? if you are using the 1300 box the p/s mount should be ok looking from the piccies but with some jigging and welding you should be able to knock something up hope this helps. oh have you used a conversion plate on the box if so the exhaust might catch ! just a thought .

Hi,

I have sorted the mounts now, pics are on difflock http://forum.difflock.com/viewtopic.php?t=31766

Have used the 1300 g/bax and I hven't yet fitted the exhaust to see if it catches my conversion plate. I'm sure if it touches I can warm it p and bend it slightly. I have overcome bigger problems!

Thanks for the input.

Mark.

Was it a simple drop it in with the converstion plate being used on the 1300 box? And can you use all of the 410 props?

I have thought about this converstion but have only read about the conversion from a 413 to 1600 Vitara.

The only thought I had though was whether or not it will be too much torque and power for the smaller 410 axles and half shafts, but then in my mind they should be strong enough, I don't know, perhaps you could keep us up to date with how you get on?

I notice that its fuel injected there m8 how you goin on with wiring ecu etc From what i know of its a p.i.t.a apparently . the straight carbed model is the easiest route but im interested to say the least!
Good luck.
