Don't give up so easily Ed, it'll take you 2hours max to drop the tank, flush it, fit a new filter and whip the sender unit out of the tank to check the gauze on the pick up. It's such a simple job you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner! You could do it tomorrow evening!

The mechanical fuel pumps on the 410 rarely fail so that should be your last resort. And that only takes 10mins and 2bolts to change so why bother paying overpriced garage rates for something you could do in 1 evening?

Ed you made any progress yet?

once you have done everything if there are still any issues I just found a pretty much brand new ignition coil for a 410 if you want to try that?

its of no use to me so you can have it for a few beer tokens.

are they the same as 413 pumps? Mine took me less than an hour to replace and about £30 for a new one

As for the filter having air in it, I had one on my motorbike, the motorbikes system was gravity feed and it was always half full of fuel and half full of air but it didn’t make a difference

Also if your thinking about selling it I only live down the road, First dibs

Don't worry, I'm not thinking about getting rid, sorry Luke, I just lost patience.
Garage is full of trailer dismantled at the minute so I've not dropped the tank yet.

Fixed it.

Drain plug out, then dried sucking through the hose that goes to the back of the filter. Nothing. Blew through it, and I heard the muck hit the tank. Washed the tank out a bit by putting petrol in and jumping up and down on the back, then drained again. Put it back together.

Nothing much came out, but certainly there was some, so I guess it had just collected on the outlet over time.

i think i may to do mine as it is starting to show similar symptom's to yours and already have new point's dizzy plugs condensior etc
