Post by chazz_543 » Tue Oct 04, 2011 7:48 pm

Hi all i work for Nissan and we had a navara in for lack of power, turned out it needed a vacum pump.
This is what it looked like once the pump was removed.

Renault take the front bumper off their cars to change the light bulbs.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Nah, you can change the bulbs without taking the bumper off, bit fiddly and it hurts but it can be done. Ive had the engine in and out of my laguna 4 times over the last 2 months, at first I thought, do I really want to do this. I was surprised how simple it is. Can probably change the engine in 4 hrs now lol that's on axle stands on the drive.

2001 laguna 3.0 v6 24v, right bare with me it's a bit long winded, I put diesel in it, any way the piston rings went. Couldn't be bothered with it so i bought a freelander, which before any one says any thing has never let me down lol. So about 2 months ago I decided to buy a engine and 2nd hand cat and just change it. eBay here I come. Ordered it and it came. Fitted it. Started it. BANG. Gutted. Took the heads off found a smashed piston. The guy who sold it to me swears blind it wasn't him but I was so careful covering intakes etc I know it wasn't me. No luck with him so it was £269 plus oil plus filters plus coolent ect down the pan. So now I have nothing to loose I took the engine out stripped both and put the remaining good pistons in the worn one fitted it, started fine took it for a drive and hey presto it's burning water, back out to change the head gaskets, fitted again and it started burning oil again, So stuck to one side before it destroyed the 2nd hand cat which cost £200 and thought about setting fire to it cos I'd had a guts full. Then some one told me about a good breakers yard

in thame, ams I think it was. Bought another engine from them with only 34 k on it for £350 It came with everything. Manifolds coils throttle body the lot. Got it back checked it for bolts ! Fitted it. And wahoo started first time no problems. Goes even better than before. Just waiting till the end of this month to tax the freelander to sell that and mot and tax the laguna and have that back on the road. Plus I bought my sj in the meantime which is in many many bits at the minute lol. Sorry about the length of this but it is a long story. Lol
