hazards an indicators
hi ppl i got sj 413 an its doin my head in .all indicators come on but dont flash nor does the hazards can any one help thanks

Sounds like the flasher relay unit is knackered, assuming all the bulbs are standard (not LED) and working. However I have heard that the relay base can loose it's earth and stop them flashing (mostly spanish built one's). Pic is my Jap 413. Best make sure it has a good earth first.

There's a black box connected in with the wiring for the rear lights that says flasher on it. Is that for the left and right indicators or something else? I.e can I remove it ?

Question time:
Do you have non-stock rear lights on the truck? Perhaps an aftermarket rear bumper?
If so, that "black box" may be a 4-wire trailer converter that a previous owner used to convert an aftermarket three-wire "stop/turn" tail light fixture that has replaced the OEM stop/turn lamp fixture Suzuki rear lighting system.
If this is the case, you need to buy new fixtures with separate lamps for each circuit (stop, turn, running lights) and remove the "Black Box". These trailer converter boxes do not work 90 percent of the time and cause problems similar to what you are describing.

alternatively -
If one side of the "Black Box" terminates with an in-line 4-pin connector, it is probably a trailer wiring converter set up for pulling a utility trailer. You can disconnect it for troubleshooting purposes...
Other causes for turn signal/hazard lighting problems include:
Installing a ISO flasher unit instead of a JSO flasher unit (japanese cars use flasher unit (JSO) that has a different pinout connection arrangement even though the plugs are identical.
Bad earths - the most common problem. Hunt down all the black wires coming out of all lighting fixtures and make sure that thery are firmly-connected to the vehicle body with NO rust present.

No cos there's another section of wires for the trailer lights. This must be something else. The wiring diagram in Haynes doesn't help much tbh.

I really don't think its anything to do with the standard wiring loom, probably why you can't find anything in the haynes. Can you post up a picture.

Haynes manuals are normally very good but the sj-vitara one is shite and often referred to as the book of liesThe wiring diagram in Haynes doesn't help much tbh.
As regards that unit, no idea, so, "if in doubt, chuck it out."

Darrell thanks for the diagram that looks more like the set up I have. I'm going to have a close look at what I have and try and draw my own diagram from what's there to compare.
