I needed a brake pipe thread on a caliper cleaned up as it was slightly cross threaded and I don't have a tap and die set to do it myself.. Halfords service centre is right right round the corner so I gave them a call.. £60 quoted.

Des Shelley Shafts, a brake caliper repair and rebuilder in town did it for me... For £2.

i asked how much for the entire shoe assembly with springs...... over a tonne.

i laughed and left.

I went to the Scumthorpe dealer for either a carb service kit and/or gaskets. He said he could only supply the carb as a complete unit, for £88 plus VAT.

On top of that the damn truck decided to cut out on me as I tried to leave. :argh:
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

I reluctantly bought a brake bias valve from the main stealers a few months ago, as i couldn't get one from anywhere els. £130 :x

I also inquired about some cv joints, but was told i could only get them with the half shaft attached. I can't remember the exact figure they gave me but it was around £250 each  .

yeah i know
the conversation went along the lines of i need a part for a 1.6 8v vit lump, so told him it was in a SJ so reg would be no good phone goes silent for a moment and he comes back and says no its not because that cant be done. i then proceed to tell him the list of parts taken from other zuks that were on it such as a 410 tbox, he says a what, so tell him 410 he then says you must mean samurai, no 410. he then tells me :suzuki: only made 2 types of SJ, 413 and samurai, both being 1.3 and whoever me that they made a 1.0 was lying and it must have come out of a sammi...

with that i said ok thanks next youll tell me they never made the LJ 800cc either and told him dont worry i wont phone back and never have
