At Last, I am back on the streets,

sorted all the problems, including the screen (got a man in for that) fixed the brake lines changed a few wheelnuts and studs and for the carb, well i took it off, removed all the auto chock mechanism, removed all the vacume system, and modified with the aid of some springs to be a complete manual chock manual carb carb, havent finished off the choke bit yet (so a bit tempermental for a couple of minutes cold) but when warm, purrs like a kitten and seems to have more toque too

need to make another mount for the exhaust, moves around a bit too much and hits the body/chassis

to say i am happy is an understatement, so good to be back in a suzuki, the 206 just didnt do it for me

Bit of an update (pics will follow)

oh and thanks dan, missed that completly, and when you are as old as me, birthdays seem to all blend into one

Not a lot to report on the suzuki, been using it a lot recently, driving everywhere like a look, even got 27mpg out of my last tank, which for me, is impressive.

2 new things, (3 in theory) gone are the 4 little cheapo spot lights and enter 2 7" hella spots, very big, very bright.
Also replaced the standard honker with a compact dual tone air horn.

on other news I picked up a winch today from Tom, I also removed the triangle exhaust trim peice as was just not good and hit things when cold (exhause moved)

should also have next week all the bits needed to convert to a multi flat belt type system and a 105 amp alternator, new window winder handles, and a new carb.

I mullered the standard vit carb to get it through the MOT and it worked, but the engine has lost its high end poke, it almost doesnt rev at all over 5000 now, so, luckely, won this tonight

had one before, worked well, gave a good performance boost, but still was crap offroad flooding on hills ect, but it was cheap

will take some pics tomorrow and do some measuring for a severe suspension mod that will be happening next month

very simple system of 2 sets of disco2 front arms and a panhard rod

I have a set of coils that came from a rocky-road coil conversion kit and i kept the long procomp 9000's

didn't want to do it this soon but it would otherwise mean doing the winch bumper twice, once for the shackle reversal, and once for the coils and my friend seems to think it will be simples, and i believe him, he knows his stuff

Update time

First off, was replacing the window winders as when at the MOT the tester mullered the splines in the drivers side one, so i bought some of those fancy looking alloy jobs, they were cheap, thought it would be worth it.



not impressed, very cheaply made, had to modify one to make it work at all and needless to say, will keep my eyes out for some standard ones

anyway todays agenda, Alternator, with the new PAS pump draining a lot of power my battery was getting drained, reglardless of the journey, not supprising really as the standard alternator is all of 30 amps, and that was when it was new too


Old one

new one with pulleys and (as i find out later) an ever so slightly to short belt



side by side (tiny bit bigger)



problem number one (other than the fact i had to take the airbox out) was the spacing



so, out comes the grider, new slitting disc, and trim away



this helped but then had to mount the the wrong way up to make the wireing and unit fit, so had to make a weird adjustment bracket (can just bee seen here) which involved the original bracket used in conuction with a ford capri pinto alternator mount.



also while i was there, noticed that the 1.6 conversion was putting a lot of stress on the rubber link between the airbox and carb top, it had infact split, so, i found an old pipercross filter, and frankensteined an airfilter together with the remains.



next up, i had to test it all (after now getting a 3rd alternator belt, it all fired up, and i went for a test



Everything on (notice new spots) engine nearly stalled as was at about 200 rpm

perfect, very decent power, and a fairly hastle free event

first alternator i got didnt fit, and then broke when modding it to fit, had to take the electric fan off to get at the pulleys, had to work out what wire did what as there were 2 sensor wires on the suzuki and 3 on the mondeo alternator (the original corsa has 1) so had to chase wires and diagrams for wires ect, then there was the belt issue, i got the belt off ebay, and was a bit to short, so i went to a motor factors, got a longer one, and was too long, so had to go back again for a 3rd and final belt, but it is done.

so with a bit of energy left and the want to do something else, i started on a new head lining, the previous owner had installed a lovley cardboard painted (once in) black version, this warped, went soft and looked crap, so, i had some hardboard about, so started a new one



tomorrow i shall get some fabric, and sprayglue and finish it off, should make it a bit nicer on the cold mornings, less water dripping on my head
