Hi and
The only thing about using the adaptor with the 1.6 is it will foul the bonnet.
You may get away with it with that bonnet bulge but it dosent look like it extends wide enough to me.
Looks like a good deal to me and if you can weld then theres not really alot to worry about.

Thanks for the Welcome! The buldge is a bit of an eye sore to be honest! The welding isn't that good on it, so i was thinking of maybe tidying it up.. maybe making it round. But getting it running properly etc will be top of the list.

Further on in that SU thread already mentioned there is a little write up I did which shows how to check needle and identify spring if you get one off ur mate.
In my opinion the SU is the best mod available for these engines to improve reliability and simplicity.
Just realised you said it had a body lift so that bulge shouldnt even be needed anyway.
EDIT: Just looked at photo again and looks like shackle lift to me.

How would i check if its had a body lift? Spacers off the chassis? I don't really know what i'm looking at on these tbh.
Shackle lift? I'll have a look on google.

It is shackle lifted thats for sure.
Whether there is a small body lift or not is a bit hard to identify from that photo because of the bumper covering the area where the spacers would be.
If it has been there will spacer blocks between the body and chassis.
Im going to guess it isnt body lifted because of the bonnet bulge then.

Cheers Dan, I will more than likely get it anyway.
So would people say £500 is a good price for it..
I know it needs a new rear prop, the diff leak sorted and airleak on the carb. And a little bit of welding, and just tidying up. The rears just open, could do with the lights sorted. I would prefer a hard back to be honest, but isn't the end of the world.

I would say it a reasonable price considering you can drive it away.
The extended shackles will soon damage the springs though so consider the fact it will need a more permenant lift method in the future.

I did just reply to this but the forum logged me out. grrr
I got the SJ today for £350 has some running issues.. and the gearbox seems very high ratio takes a while to get going.. and not much go low down for lanes. Mate thinks its the 1600 box in it and i should put the 1300 in it.

Good to see you got it for a good price.
With regards to the lack of torque I would check the timing and the vac advance is correct.
I would have thought it would have the 1.3 gearbox.
Have a look at the transfer box ratios and see which one it is.
There is some info on that here
If it has a 1.3 box fitted then fitting one from a 410 will improve it.
