Steering Knuckle Greasing
Could someone please tell me how to grease the steering knuckles on a sj410...just bought one for some fun weekends and about to start working on it. Waiting to get my hands on a haynes but the knuckles need greasing asap really.
Thanks all
Thanks all
Re: Steering Knuckle Greasing
Dont bother with the haynes, a total waste of money.
The only way they can be greased is if there is a nipple to grease them from. If not i would give it a good soaking in spray on grease, something like superlube plus

Wife just text me Haynes arrived in post...only £6 from ebay inc postage so good to collect dust lol. I couldn't see any grease nipples when I looked and mate thought that they might be greased from the outside not underneath because no nipple. Will have another look this weekend hopefully if not will get some superlube+ all help and advice is welcome and with thanks.

Re: Steering Knuckle Greasing
will do mate thanks for the advice, from the looks of the knuckles they desperatly need doing and as only just bought it just adds to things to do. Can you get and from where gaitors to cover the knuckles because dont want crap getting into the knuckle as expensive to repair lol.
Re: Steering Knuckle Greasing
I dont know if they where fitted to the 410, i know my sammy has them.
You could try the main dealer. Make sure tho when you fit them that after a few events you pop them off, wash and re grease. They can get full of sand and crud and make a right mess, (trust me i found out the hard way)

Also just noticed you are running SPOA. So what high steer are you running?

Re: Steering Knuckle Greasing
what is SPOA and what do you mean by high steer?
Re: Steering Knuckle Greasing
SPOA = Spring Perch Over Axle.
The standard steering wont work as it gives about 6" of lift. You will have to have some sort of high steer kit, or a Z bar.
Some people just bend the steering bar but this is not advisable (nore is a Z bar)

Re: Steering Knuckle Greasing
Yeah the anus has SPOA already done and the steering, I'm going to guess and say a Z bar type fitting with strenghtening plates from the looks of it but as I'm new to this and offroading in general and this being the first SJ I've every had everything is new lol.
