Hi everyone for the newbie! Picking the new SJ up Sunday!

Post by Harker » Tue Jun 26, 2012 4:00 pm

Hey guys just brought myself a nice (not so shiny) sj. This is my first one so I might need a bit of help as I have never worked on car before. My first question is, will a 970cc be be good good enough off road, until I have a chance to upgrade the engine?

Kind regards

Alex

:welcome: to :suzuki:club UK

and Yes I love the little 970cc lumps! spend your money on the suspension, some good tyres and maybe a rocklobster transfer box before bothering with an engine upgrade!

Sometimes I wish I'd left my sj on 31" tyres with the 970cc and just fitted a rocklobster not got so carried away with all mods  (very rarely though  )

We ran a bog standard 410 for years with nothing more than a set of mud tyres on it, excellent wee truck it was.

Suffered slightly with ground clearance but was more than capable offroad and would often go the same places much more modded motors went

So yes, get a good set of offroad tyres and get stuck into some mud

Wow cheers for the warm welcome!! Very excited to be picking it up on Sunday. Spoke to the guy selling it and he changed the engine to a 1300 crossflow? Still not bad for the pennies I brought it for. I will try and get some pictures up of her soon! Damn iPhone won't let me upload :(.

Thanks again for the welcome!! :)

Those wheels really suit that truck.

U planning on getting it legal or is it just an offroad toy?
