Re: help needed suzuki sj 413
Has it go manual locking front hubs?
They should look similar to that, make sure they're in the lock position or "4x4" first of all.
If 4x4 still doesnt work, then it could be a knackered CV/Birfield joint on the end of the driveshaft and thus isnt driving 1 wheel, which in turn would stop the other one driving too.
Check the front prop from the transfer box is turning when you select 4L or 4H and report back Hope this helps

Hmmmm, could well be a knackered Birfield/CV joint if its clicking loudly and not driving. I killed one of mine and had similar symptoms although mine partially stopped the steering turning onto full lock, which was a bit sketchy.
Jack it up so both wheels are off the ground, and with the hubs locked, try turning each wheel and see if it still clicks and where exaclty its coming from

in 2wd its fine dont make any noises at all iv jacked it up it seems to be coming from the front hubs but i changed them and its still doin it the only thing i havent done is the half shafts as the spare ones iv got are alot smaller its doing my head in im thinking iv just taken a sledge hammer to it lol

I'm also going with the Birfield joint, if one is knackered the diff will keep putting the drive on the worn out/slipping side. However when you fitted the diff did you give the joints a clean and regrease, if so I'd have thought you would see if there worn.

Its pretty hard to see if they're knackered without taking the whole hub apart and removing the shaft.
It'll be quite obvious its blown and the casing that holds the balls is broken up....like mine was!
Some hubs dont need completely dismantling to get the shaft out whereas Samurai's do, do you know if yours is a Jap model or Spanish built?

I don't know of a good way to check them apart from a visual inspection. As you have freewheel hubs I'd be surprised if they/it are worn out, but I have heard off the outer cup cracking allowing it to expand when under load.
Hope you can find the problem

Re: help needed suzuki sj 413
Firstly is your SJ just an sj413 or an actual samurai? I'm presuming a samurai from your other thread where you said the spare shaft you had is too short? They both have different ratio diffs. Was the diff you replaced definitely a front one and the same ratio as the original? If you have fitted a rear then the halfshaft splines wont actually mesh and you wont get drive. If it's the wrong ratio it will be causing transmission wind up but the wheels should turn.
does it only click when turning or in a straight line as well?
I would pull the freewheeling hubs off first and inspect them for worn splines and damage, also clean them up to make sure nothing is stopping them from engaging properly.
If they all seem ok then pull the shafts out and inspect all the splines.
you will need to separate the birfield from the shafts to inspect the splines there. I'm wondering if one of the cages that hold the balls inside a birfield has broken? you should be able to see this once all the grease is cleaned off if that's the case.
I have spare shafts & birfields if you do need a replacement.
