New User!!! In need of help!

Post by matty74 » Sat Oct 20, 2012 11:07 pm

Hi guys. Ive just brought myself a lovely sj413 samurai. I took it to a garage the other day for a pre mot check and have been told that it needs alot of welding.

Off side rear and near side rear end sills - Corroded & Holed
Off side inner sill - Corroded & Holed
Off side front and rear, Near side front and rear inner wheel arch - Corroded & Holed
Off side and near side rear floor - Corroded & Holed

Does anyone know roundabouts how much this should cost to get repaired before i go and get some quotes?? Or can anyone help with this themselves??

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

hi mate. where do you live? there may be someone on here local that can help you with welding..

I had my dad do all the welding on my zuk so all it cost me was the sheet of steel, trailer arches and gas for the welder, I believe it can be very expensive having it done by someone so check I'd there's anyone on here local that can weld...

Sounds similar to my dads sj, I spent about 3 weekends welding it up so its going to cost quite a bit, as said where do you live? There might be someone close by that can help out and do it cheaper than a garage would, at a garage you are looking at probably over 4-500 of welding.

Can you post some pictures of the holes etc. might even be worth you buying a cheap mug and taking the opportunity to learn to weld.

hey! welcome to the forum!
Thats cool, im in fareham to. as Scottie said its probably worth putting up some pictures of all the holes. if they are small holes i might be able to help.

what are your intentions with it btw? are you going to keep it tidy or is it going to be an off roader?

Joe
