New Sammy owner west mids - Hello!
New Sammy owner west mids - Hello!
Hi there,
Im Tom and I have just got hold of a J reg Sammy, I used to have an SJ410 which I rolled and destroyed off roading and decided its time to have another play!
Its got a couple of issues which I have been searching on here to help sort,
First off the car runs very rich, to the point where I stink of fuel when I get out of it. Its got the standard carb on, I know I should bin it but I just want to see if I can do anything with it, I'll probably post something in the engine section and see if anyone can help, i cant seem to see any info on adjusting the mixture.....
It also needs the knuckles looking at as they are both leaking (looks like half shaft seals have gone too)
Anyway I intend to off road it and have some fun on green lanes too.
The car was also magazine featured in 2003 in 4x4 mart by the previous owner (12 years!) -

Go on then let's see some bigger pics
I answered in your carb thread with some info
The front halfshaft oil seals are an easy job, 30mins-1hour each side

Well thats good to hear, did you buy the oil seals from Suzuki or somehwere else? Did you have to strip the whole hub down to get to them? Im also thinking of replacing the - wheel bearings, kingpin bearings, half shaft oil seals and felt/rubber washer on the back of the knuckle too but it looks like the kits are expensive and hard to come by in the UK

Re: New Sammy owner west mids - Hello!
I imported them from austrailia as i couldnt find nothing in the uk and didnt not want to pay main stealer prices when i stripped mine down i replaced all the seals and locking washers etc , the only thing i didnt replace was the king pins , shims , and the wheel bearing because i all ready had a wheel bearing a few months ago , somewhere in the world there is a "how to" guide to do it and i basically used that as i found it clear and easy!
The kit i used was this one below i just orded it from a different company in austrailia but be aware when you it arrives over here you might get charged import tax like i did! its not about about £7 or something
