Got my sj lastnite !!

Post by Rambo » Thu Mar 28, 2013 10:32 pm

Hi all, picked up my truck and well pleased with it!
A few problems tho the window wipers don't work!(fuse ok)
Found the rust under passenger seat(the seat moves!)
And the drive home, well what a laugh!!! It's was all over the place!
Not sure if something wrong with the steering just seems to
One minute under steer then oversteer!
Love it tho !!
Thanks to those with info : paint (chosen olive drab green)
Heater diagram ( you were right full of leaves )
1.3 to 1.6 ( still in the pipeline but will take ur advise n have a play with 1.3)

yep that sounds about right for an sj! regarding the steering on top of the box there is a screw with a nut on it slacken of the nut and wind the screw down a bit not much and tighten up the nut just a nip will be fine.

it wont take up all the play but will take some of it up! thats if it hasnt been adjusted previously ;)

If the steering is a bit vague its normal!

If its undriveabley vague, there's probably an issue, does it have any sort off added lift in it? Lift shakles are bad and make it hard to drive, extra wide tyres steer themselves and if you have a 'z' shaped steering bar you'd have a more luck getting a pregnant whale around that corner!

Ahh thanks guys! New you would no the answers!
Will try the help of wd40 on the wipers,
Yes it has got the lift thing going on!
Not sure what shackle means or z thing is ( I'm a virgin on these words guys )
It's got big tyres and wheel spacers
not sure yet how to do the adjustment on the play of steering I've got nice four days to play!
And I've spotted three sj's in my local scrap yard, I'm going to try and get the floor pan plugs as mine are missing, and grab some other bits I've noticed I need!
I'm missing the carpet are they easy to get in and out or should I not bother??
Anything else you think is worth having from the scrappy ? Bet it's closed today!
whale round the corner :hahaha:
Thanks again guys

If your useing it as a offroaders I wouldn't bother with carpets as thay will be ruined in no time with mud and water. Best bet to check it all over first and make a list. Your really lucky having 3 in the scrappy. I haven't seen any in my locals

NE Motor Salvage had a 410 in 1999. Stolen recovered. It was a red tin top.
