New member - Old Vit

Post by EricG » Sat Apr 20, 2013 12:35 am

Hi all. New on here. Just thought I'd introduce myself and my '97 Vit, bought in 2006 for the missus, and now belongs to me. At the moment I'm using it for my work as a gardener while I wait for my van to be repaired. I've never been off-road with it but love driving it, even though it seems a bit of a thirsty beast. Only found this site a couple of days ago but from what I've seen it is a good site with friendly folks.

If the photos work, the first two were taken today and the last two were taken in the on the day of purchase in May 2006. As you can see, the soft-top now needs some TLC as it is splitting and tearing, and doesn't fit properly, so if anyone can please tell me where I can get some fabric for the repairs I would be very grateful.

All the best.

Thanks for the welcome guys. It has collected a few paint chips and scratched over the last 7 years, so doesn't look quite as tidy close up. Took the back seats out to get it through the MOT as there is rot around the seat belt anchorages; still got to get those done (this year). Recently had both inner sills welded for MOT. No plans for off-roading - never thought much about it. Looks like fun but I'd be afraid of wrecking it as I can't afford to fix it if it gets damaged. Thanks for the link Robbie. I would like to put a new top on it but could be quite a while before I can afford it, so I need to stop the old one from going completely
