Not had my sj very long, it's a bit of a project I guess. Anyways when I picked it up the wind was horrendous on the motorway, probably the scariest driving experience I've ever had, really weird wobble that seems to be coming from the rear. Thought it just might be because of the off road tyres, I'm totally new to 4x4, so just put it down to the high winds.
Since then It's been happening when sharply turning, on bumpy roads and worse at 50mph+..
So tonight i checked it over, and one of the u bolts on the passenger side is missing.. Wow. Gonna sort that tomorrow and tighten every other bolt up, but anything else to check? I'm kinda supposed to be collecting and towing back a small boat this weekend.. A 600 mile round trip! Don't fancy it driving it like it is
Thanks

Re: Wobble truck...
Missing a u bolt , that sounds like your problem. I would also check for any play in the wheel bearings.

Bearing, wheel nuts, drum nuts, prop shaft. Make sure all nuts are correctly torqued.

Re: Wobble truck...
I got my U-bolts from there. Friendly bunch. Had them in the post right quick.Darrell wrote:Dave at http://www.llama4x4.com/page5.htm has a good reputation
One thing I might point out which I rang back about and had explained to me:
If you get a full set of U-bolts, you should find that there are two of them that have a larger radius curve on them. These two bigger ones are for the front axle on the side nearest the diff.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Most of the drum nuts ive worked on are usually knackered
