Hello from Hertfordshire
Hello from Hertfordshire
Hi, I've joined the site and had a little look around for an sj to use as an off road toy and winter comutter. Found one on eBay for £500, will stick photos up when I pick it up.
My current drive is an m3 and that hates the snow. An sj looks a cheaper option than a set of winter tyres. Or that's the way I'm justifying yet another car.
Never driven anything 4x4 off road properly but have had a ktm 125 and 250sx and really enjoyed those.
Also have a mk2 escort forest rally car in bits I'm restoring but its going to do circuit stuff rather than mud.
As it is now 2 years later.

Re: Hello from Hertfordshire
Welcome to the club boss.
Can't wait to see the escort done. You shoud start a build thread for that in the other marques section. An associate of mine just sold one for the better part of £30k! A minter is like rocking horse shit and worth a fortune. It's the only car i have known the insurance man come to look at before insuring it.
Is it anything special or just a boggo Mk2 escort rally car? Whats the spec? And is it all original?
Cheers

Thanks for the welcomes
I will stick a few photos up in the other marques section when i get a moment, im not that great at remembering to take photos when I'm working on it tho.
Im hoping the Js wont be such a big project!
The escort is a rs2000 and has been a GRP4 forest rally car for at least 15 years that ive managed to trace, it was a bit crispy and well used so i decided after buying it from northern Ireland and driving it home to strip it down and start again. Its got lots of nice bits on it coil overs, straight cut box, all steel 197hp pinto. it was 5 linked but is now 6 linked, ive welded a fairly serious cage picks up front strut tops. Along with lots of other metalwork, chassis rails, sills raised boot floor, sill jacking points much bigger rear tubs also gone for gone for wider arches. Keep getting carried away with the build while trying to keep it to fit into some sort of classJordi wrote: Is it anything special or just a boggo Mk2 escort rally car? Whats the spec? Nice SJ and collection of toys!
I have a few myself. It's funny, the SJ is the cheapest, roughest, least practical car I own but is increasingly becoming the one I enjoy driving the most!
As Windsor said, watch out, it's addictive!

Re: Hello from Hertfordshire
I'm looking forward to doing a few bits to it but unfortunately with Goodwood next week I won't be getting near it for a couple of weeks. Underneath looks fairly sound, body and inner wheel arches are crispy but that's easy to sort out.
will start a build thread as I start doing bits to it.
