Snorkel

Post by ben_moto501 » Sun Nov 15, 2009 5:43 pm

Me again! :P

I am making my own snorkel for my sj and i've nearly finished... I have got rid of the air box as it had some holes in it and have come directly off with the snorkel pipe with the mind to putting a cone filter on the top! Will there be a problem with water getting on the filter? ie. rain??
Also which other breathers need raising up other than diff ones?

Thanks!

Ben

breather wise, I did one from the front diff, the rear diff and the t box, there is a breather on the gear box to but its in the transmission tunnel so you have to drop the gearbox down to get at it so i Didn't bother! On my breather sytem ive used about 12 jubalee clips x5 1 meter lengths of brake servo hose and 2 y split type plastic connectors, with a crappy chrome air filter element on the end, you need a 90 degree adaptor for the t.box as the breather faces the body and it wouldn't fit otherwise,

the 90 degree adaptors can be found here....

I borrowed a tap from work and tapped the t box (where the existing breather was you just pull the old cap, spring and 'seat' off) then screw the male end of the fitting into the box using ptfe tape

Personally,...if you put somethin like a (coned)k&n on top i'd cover it....... Down pours will get down the tube( if its a little rain it probably wont be a problem ), plus flyin crud can land on the filter and start to block it.

you could use something as crude as plant pot to keep it cheap.
ITS NOT LEAKING OIL...........SHE'S MARKIN HER TERRITORY!!!!!!!!

+2 lift....grizzley boots is all i need!

That looks good but I've already been and bought a cone filter to go on top! What other breathers need raising apart from the diffs, transfer box and gearbox? Are there any on the carb that also need raising?
