Hi From Exmoor
Hello guys, I'm just sitting here waiting for my 1986 SJ413 to arrive and can't wait to take it up onto Exmoor which is basically my back garden, I've owned Hilux's for the past 8 years, a Mk3 & a Mk1, the missus had a Mk3 import d/c & the step lad 2 Mk2's, brilliant trucks and great for when I was running my tree surgery business but now I've had to stop through bad health I thought I'd get something smaller and have always fancied the SJ.
Right then when it arrives I will put some pics up along with specs and I look forward to getting some advice off the experts, 1st thing I need to buy is a winch, just big enough to pull me out of a sticky situation and haul the odd tree stump out.......any suggestions on them, would a 3,500lb one suffice?
Cheers
Lee

Hi Last winch I had was 6000 lb and it wasn't really up to the job if it was a bit sticky
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good

Robbie is right. Just because the truck is lighter the resistance when it is up to its axles in mud is much the same.

Welcome to SCUK.
I reckon on a 9000lb winch being about spot on for any stuck situations. A 6000lb is enough but when really stuck would need to be used 2:1.

Just a Vitara 1.6 Petrol.....................just had it up & down Exmoor, through fords, tight squeezes, up steep hills & stoney lanes and along deep ruts, (all in what we call our back garden, 5,000 acres of hill farm that we live on), and she performed brilliantly.......roll on winter.ferris wrote: to the club What engine have you got hiding under that bonnet bulge?
