Toms SJ build

Post by Smarty » Tue Feb 18, 2014 1:51 pm

Hello, bought this as a project to hopefully get on the road. When I picked her up she needed a good rinse over and a good tidy up. Engine has been fully rebuild 1000 miles ago at the expense of £980 with recipt from previous owner! Has a SU carb conversion as well. This is how it looked when I first got it

Gave her a quick swill over, repainted the bumpers with hammerite, fitted and wired up some land rover indicators and side lights on the front for mot. Also fitted a midland cb which I had in my old fourtrak. She could do with a a repaint at some point in the future but getting it on the road is priority. How she stands at the minute

C & C welcome!

Nice looking truck man! Some awefully long shackles you got going on there! What sort of work you looking at to get her back on the road?

Cheers buddy, yeah they are on the long side lol just needs a bit of welding really, few rusty holes in the arches. Leaking a bit from the steering oil/ fluid reservoir under the steering rack bit don't know the technical name lol expect they will find a few other problems to sort!

Yeah they are standards on the front. Think the previous owner has just taken some of the leaf spring out to raise it lol that's what it looks like anyway.

I quite like the recovery attachment on the winch tray, I might do that until I get a winch, towbar bolted through the bottom of the tray

Yeah sure it will come I'm handy, planning on buying a winch one day. Think it's just bolted to the back bumper, only going to use it for recovery so no major towing.
